Editing documents

Open a space in the Docs sidebar and use New page at the top of its folder tree to create a document at the space root, or open a folder and use the same button to create it inside that folder. A new document opens straight into the editor with an empty title, ready to rename and write.

The editor is real-time and markdown-aware: type # for a heading, - for a bulleted list, and other familiar markdown shortcuts, or use the formatting toolbar that appears when you select text. Changes save automatically as you type — there’s no separate save step, and if you’re editing alongside someone else, you’ll both see each other’s changes live.

Each document has two independent display settings, both in the ⋯ menu next to the title:

  • Pages / Pageless — Pages renders the document as paginated, letter-sized pages, like a printed document. Pageless flows the content the full width of the pane instead, with no page breaks. This is saved per document.
  • Full screen — the expand icon next to the title hides the surrounding sidebar so the document fills the window. Click it again (or the collapse icon) to bring the sidebar back.

Drag a folder in the sidebar tree to move it — drop it onto another folder to nest it inside, or drop it above or below a row to reorder it among its siblings. You can nest folders as deeply as you like.

Drag a document to move it: drop it onto a folder to file it there, or onto the empty area below the tree to send it back to the space root. Documents aren’t reordered by dragging — where a document falls among its siblings isn’t something you control this way.

One rule for folders: you can’t drop a folder onto itself or into one of its own descendants — the tree won’t offer a drop target for that, since it would leave the folder trying to contain itself.
